Clear Wave 2.0
A handmade tonearm cable for the Linn LP12, built entirely in-house
A low-output moving coil cartridge puts out a few tenths of a millivolt, and the tonearm cable is the only thing between it and the phono stage. Every connection in that path sits in series with the signal.
The Clear Wave 2.0 is built almost entirely in-house at Bool Audio: every connector body, every Y-splitter, every solder joint. At its core is the Gotham Audio GAC-2, a Swiss-made balanced cable chosen specifically for the demands of the LP12.

Engineering
Gotham GAC-2
Swiss-made double flat balanced cable with double Reussen shielding. The shield is connected only to ground at each end, never to any signal wire at any point. Chosen for its exceptional flexibility, ultra-low noise floor, and suitability for the LP12 suspension.
PEEK Connectors
DIN body, RCA bodies and Y-splitter all machined in-house from black PEEK thermoplastic, a high-performance engineering material used in aerospace and medical applications. As an insulator, PEEK keeps capacitance down and reduces microphonics without needing to ground the connector bodies.
AECO Receptacles
RCA receptacles are AECO gold-plated tellurium copper, a specialist audio-grade connector chosen for its conductivity, corrosion resistance and secure contact. DIN pins are gold-plated. Every connection in the signal path is treated with the same level of consideration.
Installation
Designed for the Linn LP12
The LP12's suspension is famously sensitive to the tonearm cable. A stiff or heavy cable can interfere with the subchassis movement and compromise the sound regardless of how good everything else in the system is.
The Clear Wave 2.0 is built around the Gotham GAC-2 specifically because it is exceptionally flexible and slim. It can be routed and dressed without touching the subchassis or baseboard, and it applies no meaningful pull on the arm at any point in its travel.
A P-clip is included to help dress the cable correctly. Getting this right is one of the most overlooked steps in LP12 setup, and the Clear Wave 2.0 makes it straightforward.

Capacitance and MM cartridges
A moving magnet cartridge's recommended load capacitance is a total. The tonearm cable and the phono stage input add together, and the cartridge sees the sum. Makers publish the figure they want that sum to land on.
| Audio-Technica VM series | 100–200 pF |
|---|---|
| Sumiko Moonstone and Rainier | 100–200 pF |
| Nagaoka MP series | 150–200 pF |
| Ortofon 2M series | 150–300 pF |
As published by each maker. The same figures drive our cartridge database.
The Clear Wave 2.0 measures 95 pF per channel. Into a phono stage presenting 100 pF, the cartridge sees 195 pF, which is inside every window above, though near the top of the ones that stop at 200 pF. A tonearm lead at 250 pF would put the same cartridges at 350 pF, outside all of them.
Most phono stages let capacitance be added, with a switch or a plug-in load. None let it be taken away. Whatever the cable contributes is the floor for the whole system.
Moving coil cartridges have far lower coil inductance and are loaded by resistance instead, so cable capacitance does not move their response inside the audio band.
